TONE MATCH PRESETS, CAPTURES, AND PROFILES OF A VICTORY SHERIFF 44
The Sheriff is heavily inspired by vintage Marshall circuits (think: JTM45). It features two channels, and works wonderfully as a clean pedal platform or gained up for heavier tones.
We’ve captured and tone-matched the amp various cabs (more on that below), with world-class microphones, preamps, and EQ units.
LINE 6 STADIUM (PROXY)
For Stadium and Stadium XL, we’ve cloned the amp using Proxy. The Stadium downloads include both presets and a full set of Proxy clones.
TONE MATCH PATCHES (Applies to Line 6 and Fractal presets)
These are part of our ‘Tone Match’ line of patches. To create these patches, we make custom IR’s that ‘match’ the HX and Fractal amp models to our real-world amp. The result is the Line 6 and Fractal units sound almost exactly like our actual amplifiers.
The ‘Gen2’ indicates a new process we’ve used when Tone Matching our amplifiers that takes more of the amplifier’s cab and speaker into account, resulting in a more accurate tone match impulse response.
PRESETS INFO
(Applies to Line 6 HX, Fractal, Quad Cortex units)
The pack includes 2 sets of presets (each with SC and HB options). The presets are labeled ‘A’ and ‘B’, and feature different approaches to signal chain and amp channels.
‘A PRESETS: The ‘A’’ presets feature two amp blocks set up in a stereo pair with all the wet effects feeding into the amps. Think of it like running a large stereo pedalboard into two amplifiers set on the ‘edge of breakup’.
‘B’ PRESETS: In the ‘B’ presets, the modulation, delay, and reverb effects are placed after the single (mono) amplifier block. This replicates a studio setting where all the modulation, delay, and reverb effects are applied after the amplifier.
SNAPSHOTS/SCENES
Our presets include Snapshots for instant access to a wide variety of tones, including clean sounds, ambient tones, driven, lead, and high gain sounds, and modulated tones.
NOTES:
- The HX Stomp, POD Go, and FM3 folders include ‘FX” presets. These presets include the additional effects blocks from the full Helix/Axe-FX versions. Because these units have signal flow and DSP limitations, they are not as fully featured as the flagship units.
- POD GO Users: Because POD Go cannot utilize two amp blocks in a single preset, we’ve delivered one set of presets.
- The HX Stomp presets do not include Snapshots/Scenes.
CAPTURES & PROFILES
(Applies to Line 6 Stadium, TONEX, Quad/Nano Cortex, Kemper)
The captures increase through the entire gain range of the amp. We’ve delivered 24 total captures, including two cabinet options as well as direct captures.
The captures are numbered, and the number corresponds to the level of gain in the tone model. Lower numbers equal lower gain, and higher numbers equal higher gain. Typically a ‘2’ or ‘3’ is the ‘edge of breakup’, and is the perfect option to use with pedals.
TONEX V2 Captures:
These captures were created using the ‘V2’ capture process, which was introduced with Tonex Ver. 1.10. This means that these captures represent the highest possible level of accuracy, and are phase aligned with all other ‘V2’ captures.
Capture Labels:
- BB = Mojotone Bluesbreaker 2×12 cab w/ mis-matched WGS speakers
- MJH = Marshall 1982B JH 4×12 cab with Celestion G12C’s – classic 4×12 with greenbacks tones
- Dir = Direct (no cab)
QUAD/NANO CORTEX – HOW DO YOU GET THE CAPTURES?
When you place your order, we will need to manually send you the captures through the ‘Cortex Cloud’ app by Neural DSP, available for both iOS and Android devices. First, you need to have the app installed and you must have an account through the app (go here to create an account and access the app).
This is how we will send you the captures:
- Please include your Cortex Cloud app username in the ‘Notes’ field when checking out. If you do not include this, we cannot send you the captures. After we receive your order, we (SignalTheory) will follow you on the app.
- Follow ‘SignalTheory’ on the Cortex Cloud app. This will make us ‘friends’ through the app :). If you are not following us, we cannot send you the captures.
- After we receive your order, and we ‘Friends’ on the app, we will send you the captures through the app. We bundle the captures into presets, so you will receive one (or more) presets that include all the captures. You will find the captures in the ‘Shared with me’ section on your Quad Cortex.
- Please allow up to 5 business days for us to send you the captures. Most orders will be fulfilled within two business days or less. This fulfillment process must happen manually – we will do our best to get you the files quickly. Once the NDSP marketplace opens, this process may change.
THE CAB OPTIONS
With this amp, we wanted to offer you the experience of playing through various different cabinets, as each cab brings out unique qualities of the amplifier. Scroll down to learn more about the four different cabs we Tone Matched and captured this amp through.
CAB DETAILS
- For capture units (TONEX, Quad Cortex, and Kemper), you’ll get separate captures through each cab, as well as direct captures.
- For modeling units (Line 6 and Fractal), you’ll get separate Tone-Matched IR files which you can swap into the cab block(s) to switch cabs
Mojotone Bluesbreaker 2×12 cab
Captures and IR’s with this Cab are labeled ‘BB’
This 2×12 cab delivers classic vintage British/Marshall tones. It’s a perfect match for any JTM45 style amp. It has a pair of mis-matched WGS speakers (ET65 and Veteran 30), which deliver complex and mid-forward tones.
Marshall 1982B JH 4×12
Captures and IR’s with this Cab are labeled ‘MJH’
This is the over-sized 4×12 cab that was designed for the Marshall Super 100. It includes rare UK-made Celestion G12C’s, which are designed to replicate the sound of Jimi Hendrix’s worn in greenbacks. This cab sounds great with pretty much everything.
How to use the different Tone Match IR’s
For the Fractal and Line 6 presets, you can simply select any of the Match IR’s and pair them with the amp block(s). We’ve designed the presets so you shouldn’t need to make any major adjustments to the amp block settings. You can always, of course, adjust things to suite your gear and playing, but the different IR’s are designed to replicate plugging the amp into these three different cabs.
For the Quad Cortex presets, you can swap out the amp captures for other cab options and experiment with them as you would like.

Expectations were medium as this tech is new to Line 6 and I have two tone tired ears from rocking all the time. Can I say that my old ears were very very pleased , these Proxy Caps of the Sheriff are an amazing chewy gritty use all the time level of great. As for the Victory Sheriff, I can only say it’s a perfectly usable amp—especially if you’re looking for clean tones with a bit of “edge.” A real all-rounder to pair with pedals.
I hope to expand my collection with other downloads. I’m especially looking forward to the Helix Stadium versions of the different Two-Rock amps. I bought them back in the day for the Quad Cortex and thought they were a real gem.

First I want to thank you for this is awesome masterpiece, as always. As you can see on my account, this last year’s I’ve been buying you, through Signal Theory and Worship Tutorial, a lot of stuff for the HX Helix and now for the stadium XL, and I must say it is always the same perfect quality and one of the things I appreciate is that it’s just usable out of the box ! This new one like the others is just perfect. I have only one point to discuss , and all your gears are concerned: it is just my opinion , I think you’re using the delay much ! Not a big thing, I just have to bypass it or to tune it as I like it, and this way of modify things quickly is one of the great features of the Helix, there are so much features that I just don’t have tried yet… So thank you for this great job and just go on the same way and I will go on looking at your work and buying the things that interest me !

This is an excellent set of captures. I can’t believe they just gave this one away! I was looking for something to complement my modified Tele (10k rail humbucker in the bridge and Strat-like Tele neck pickup) and this does the trick. I wanted to get a Plexi like tone that works well and doesn’t differ drastically from the tones I get from the Marshall Modified Super Lead and Coldwater Canyon WT captures I use with my HH Strats. The character of the Victory Sheriff brings out a lot of bite and presence from the bridge pickup while, keeping the neck pickup from getting thin sounding. I use the “2” captures for clean tones (still some breakup with this guitar) and the “3” captures with a Klon style drive in front for my driven tones. The Klon is by no means my “go to” drive pedal, but it works extremely well as a boost in front of these particular captures. Great job on these!

I have been making my own captures of my Victory Kraken since 2023. I was looking for something with a slightly rounder tone while still maintaining that Victory character. I tried these out and was very impressed.
I opted for the direct capture with a Tone Junkie impulse. I really didn’t have to apply much EQ. I plugged these in on a Friday, used them for Sunday service – they were that easy to dial-in. These were great find.

The Victory Sheriff 44 pack is incredible. It delivers phenomenal low-gain and high-gain tones that sound full-bodied and warm, with absolutely no harsh highs or stridency. Having the DI Tone Models available made a huge difference for me, as it allowed me to seamlessly pair them with my favorite IRs. Signal Theory knocked it out of the park again!
