Description
TONE MATCH PRESETS, CAPTURES, AND PROFILES
The D40 is a two-channel, 40 watt amplifier inspired by classic vintage amp designs. Channel one covers clean to slightly driven tones, while channel two delivers rich ‘edge of breakup’ tones to driven crunch sounds.
To us, the amp feels inspired by our favorite ‘Fullerton’ type tones, while channel two can get into more ‘Marshall’ sonic territory. But we also feel it very much has a ‘Dumble’ quality to it, both in the warm, big clean tones as well as the rich overdriven sounds.
LINE 6 STADIUM (PROXY)
For Stadium and Stadium XL, we’ve cloned the amp using Proxy. The Stadium downloads include both presets and a full set of Proxy clones.
TONE MATCH PATCHES (Applies to Line 6 and Fractal presets)
These are part of our ‘Tone Match’ line of patches. To create these patches, we make custom IR’s that ‘match’ the HX and Fractal amp models to our real-world amp. The result is the Line 6 and Fractal units sound almost exactly like our actual amplifiers.
The ‘Gen2’ indicates a new process we’ve used when Tone Matching our amplifiers that takes more of the amplifier’s cab and speaker into account, resulting in a more accurate tone match impulse response.
PRESETS INFO
(Applies to Line 6 Stadium/HX, Fractal, Quad Cortex units)
The pack includes 2 sets of presets (each with SC and HB options). The presets are labeled ‘A’ and ‘B’, and feature different approaches to signal chain and amp channels.
‘A PRESETS: The ‘A’’ presets feature two amp blocks set up in a stereo pair with all the wet effects feeding into the amps. Think of it like running a large stereo pedalboard into two amplifiers set on the ‘edge of breakup’.
‘B’ PRESETS: In the ‘B’ presets, the modulation, delay, and reverb effects are placed after the single (mono) amplifier block. This replicates a studio setting where all the modulation, delay, and reverb effects are applied after the amplifier.
SNAPSHOTS/SCENES
Our presets include Snapshots for instant access to a wide variety of tones, including clean sounds, ambient tones, driven, lead, and high gain sounds, and modulated tones.
NOTES:
- The HX Stomp, POD Go, and FM3 folders include ‘FX” presets. These presets include the additional effects blocks from the full Helix/Axe-FX versions. Because these units have signal flow and DSP limitations, they are not as fully featured as the flagship units.
- Fractal AM4 presets include a block library download that gives you access to many of our favorite effects already dialed in.
- POD GO & AM4 Users: Because POD Go cannot utilize two amp blocks in a single preset, we’ve delivered one set of presets.
- The HX Stomp presets do not include Snapshots/Scenes.
CAPTURES & PROFILES
(Applies to Stadium, TONEX, Quad/Nano Cortex, Kemper)
The captures increase through the entire gain range of the amp. We’ve delivered 44 total captures, including three cabinet options as well as direct captures.
The captures are numbered, and the number corresponds to the level of gain in the tone model. Lower numbers equal lower gain, and higher numbers equal higher gain. Typically a ‘2’ or ‘3’ is the ‘edge of breakup’, and is the perfect option to use with pedals.
TONEX and Quad Cortex are both using the ‘V2’ capture process/technology
NAM:
All NAM captures are A2 captures – includes all cab options as well as direct.
Capture Labels:
- Cln = Channel 1 (Clean channel)
- Drt = Channel 2 (Dirty channel)
- Br = Bright (bright switch on, brighter overall tone)
- EV = Mesa Boogie Lonestar 1×12 Cab (Electro-Voice EVM12L speaker)
- M76 = 1976 Marshall 1960A cab with original Blackbacks
- HM = Matchless Chief 100 2×12 cab (Scumback H75 + M75 speakers)
- Dir = Direct (no cab)
QUAD/NANO CORTEX V2 Captures & Presets – HOW DO YOU GET THE CAPTURES?
When you place your order, we will need to manually send you the captures through the ‘Cortex Cloud’ app by Neural DSP, available for both iOS and Android devices. First, you need to have the app installed and you must have an account through the app (go here to create an account and access the app).
This is how we will send you the captures:
- Please include your Cortex Cloud app username in the ‘Notes’ field when checking out. If you do not include this, we cannot send you the captures. After we receive your order, we (SignalTheory) will follow you on the app.
- Follow ‘SignalTheory’ on the Cortex Cloud app. This will make us ‘friends’ through the app :). If you are not following us, we cannot send you the captures.
- After we receive your order, and we ‘Friends’ on the app, we will send you the captures through the app. We bundle the captures into presets, so you will receive one (or more) presets that include all the captures. You will find the captures in the ‘Shared with me’ section on your Quad Cortex.
- Please allow up to 5 business days for us to send you the captures. Most orders will be fulfilled within two business days or less. This fulfillment process must happen manually – we will do our best to get you the files quickly. Once the NDSP marketplace opens, this process may change.
THE CAB OPTIONS
With this amp, we wanted to offer you the experience of playing through various different cabinets, as each cab brings out unique qualities of the amplifier.
- EV = Mesa Boogie Lonestar 1×12 Cab (Electro-Voice EVM12L speaker)
- M76 = 1976 Marshall 1960A cab with original Blackbacks
- HM = Matchless Chief 100 2×12 cab (Scumback H75 + M75 speakers)
CAB DETAILS
- For capture units (TONEX, Quad Cortex, and Kemper), you’ll get separate captures through each cab, as well as direct captures.
- For modeling units (Line 6 and Fractal), you’ll get separate Tone-Matched IR files which you can swap into the cab block(s) to switch cabs. There are no ‘right’ or ‘wrong’ cab options – simply audition each cab and pick your favorite (or mix/match them). You do not necessarily need to make any adjustments to the amp block(s) when switching IR cabs.

This is my favourite ST amp release. It sounds and plays what I have in my head and heart. Awesome

ST convinced me that what really matters is how you capture the sound for profiling, and that not all providers on the market are the same. For me, ST are top-class. Highly recommended

The Revv D-40 Is one of the best WT amps I’ve bought for my pod go. It’s clean tone is chime the drive tone is the best I’ve heard from any IRs I’ve tried. This one really rocks!!

What I liked the most about it is that now, the difference of volume between the normal and lead settings is not gigantic , earpiercing nor unbalanced compared to some previous presets. Rather, it is a warmer, hairier yet clear creamy sound. Giving it 4 stars because I think the delay types do not honor or fit this great tone matched amp. I forgot to mention it takes pedals really well, me being an HX stomp user.

Picked this up for ToneX and Line6 Helix. Very 3 dimensional and dynamic amp tone and great as a clean pedal platform.

This is a really good preset. I’m using it with the Line 6 Helix and this one was FOH ready straight from the download link. I of course tweak for my gear and setup, but I would have no problem downloading this and using as-is. I’ve purchased a number of WT/ST presets and the and the CLDWTR CNYN are truly fantastic!

A very comfortable, smooth palette of tones that feel connected and organic…SWEET!

Tones sound awesome and the number of captures are impressive as a nanocortex user. Only request would be more info in capture descriptions. Sometimes hard to keep straight the differences by the titles alone.

This is the Best ST/WT capture/preset etc by a country mile.!!
I have a lot of presets from ST across tonex and helix-hx and fractal and many of them i get and. keep tweaking cos it wasn’t quite right for me ie where they sat in terms of clean vs edge of breakup vs driven etc (obviously guitar dependant) but this d40 literally had to do nothing on all guitars just plug in a turn up
Phat, articulate balanced just awesome !!
(This one was the Fractal FM9 and B series – wet effects after the amp/ cab
Amazing. job on this one fellas- nailed it
I don’t have actual Amps any more other than my! FFully modded ac30 that I rebuilt years ago but this. thing is so good I might have to consider actually acquiring thisl amp now ! 🤷🏻♂️

Everything they said it was going to be and more! Now my go to for cleans and edge-of-breakup tones. Amazing with pedals. I’m going to be exploring this one for a while – so many tones with the REVV! Excellent work guys!

Very nice patch. I just upgraded to stadium so I wanted to get a new stadium specific patch to take advantage of the new technology. This one did not disappoint.

Truly one of the best amp capture packs I’ve ever bought for my Nano Cortex! The crunch and overdrive sounds are outstanding!! Great work worshippers!!! Thank you!

This is a great purchase. Really authentic tones. Lovely midrange, especially.

Love the REVV stuff – it’s meaty, but can also get a decent cleanish sound. Very touch sensitive too, which is great for the “feel” players. Kudos to the team!

This Revv40 proxy clone is the best I have played! I love this amp! Well done Brian and Bradford!!!

Wow!! This might be my favorite one. It is so freaking good! Keep it up!

Just for context, I have been playing gutiar 40 years and have owned a bunch of nice stuff, built tube amps and pedals for years. Have used fractal since 2011 and a quad cortex off and on since it was released as well as the revv d20 and the toneking imperial preamp, still have all these and use them reqularlly as well as a bunch of other stuff. So I have a long history with dialing in great tone.
This fractal preset on my fm9 may be the best tone i have been able to achieve in the digital relm. yes my real tube stuff is better…. but not by much. I also grabbed the quad cortex preset and eagarly await to try that when they share it to my account.
I NEVER leave reviews but this is too good to not review it.
Great job with this one guys i appriciate it.
