Description
STEREO AMPS PRESETS & CAPTURES
FROSTBIRD is a stereo amp capture and preset pack combining two Matchless amplifiers – the Phoenix 35 and the Coldwater Canyon.
These are both hotter amps than you might expect from Matchless but they give you this extra sizzle with their signature chime. They are then panned hard left and right and pushed with carefully crafted wet effects and drives. The width and separation is enough to freeze you in your tracks until the ripping leads melt your face.
We’ve delivered multiple cabinet options for each amplifier, two different sets of presets with different signal paths, and both clean and edge of breakup captures for capture devices.
- For Preset devices (Line 6 OG Helix, HX Stomp, Fractal Axe-FX III, FM9), we have delivered 4 presets and 6 tone-matched IR’s.
- For Capture devices (Line 6 Stadium, Quad Cortex, TONEX, and NAM), we have delivered 10 captures, giving you multiple cabinet and gain options for both amps (all amp + cab captures)
- Stadium and Quad Cortex include both the presets and captures.
TONE MATCH (Gen 2) PATCHES (Applies to Line 6 and Fractal presets)
These are part of our ‘Tone Match’ line of patches. To create these patches, we make custom IR’s that ‘match’ the HX and Fractal amp models to our real-world amp. The result is the Line 6 and Fractal units sound almost exactly like our actual amplifiers.
The ‘Gen2’ indicates a new process we’ve used when Tone Matching our amplifiers that takes more of the amplifier’s cab and speaker into account, resulting in a more accurate tone match impulse response.
PRESETS INFO
(Applies to Line 6 HX, Fractal, Quad Cortex units)
The pack includes 2 sets of presets (each with SC and HB options). The presets are labeled ‘A’ and ‘B’, and feature different approaches to signal chain and amp channels.
‘A PRESETS: The ‘A’’ presets feature two amp blocks set up in a stereo pair with all the wet effects feeding into the amps. Think of it like running a large stereo pedalboard into two amplifiers set on the ‘edge of breakup’.
‘B’ PRESETS: In the ‘B’ presets, the modulation, delay, and reverb effects are placed after the amp/IR blocks. This replicates a studio setting where all the modulation, delay, and reverb effects are applied after the amplifier.
SNAPSHOTS/SCENES
Our presets include Snapshots for instant access to a wide variety of tones, including clean sounds, ambient tones, driven, lead, and high gain sounds, and modulated tones.
NOTES:
- The HX Stomp presets do not include Snapshots/Scenes.
- The HX Stomp folders include ‘FX” presets. These presets include the additional effects blocks from the full Helix versions. Because these units have signal flow and DSP limitations, they are not as fully featured as the flagship units.
Tone-Match IR Labels:
- HM = Matchless 2×12 cab loaded with Scumback H75 and M75 mis-matched speakers.
- M76 = Vintage 1976 Marshall 1960A loaded with original Celestion Blackbacks
- ESS = Matchless 1×12 cab loaded with a Matchless-branded Celestion G12H30
- ES412 = 1998 Matchless 4×12 cab loaded with Matchless-branded Celestion Vintage 30’s
CAPTURES & PROFILES
(Applies to Proxy, TONEX, Quad Nano Cortex, NAM)
The captures increase through the entire gain range of the amp. We’ve delivered 10 total captures (four of each amplifier).
The captures are numbered, and the number corresponds to the level of gain in the tone model. The ‘2’ captures are clean, while the ‘3’ captures are set at the ‘edge of breakup’
NAM captures are A2 captures.
V2 Captures:
Both TONEX and Quad Cortex captures included were made using the latest ‘V2’ capture tech from each company.
Capture Labels:
- HM = Matchless 2×12 cab loaded with Scumback H75 and M75 mis-matched speakers.
- M76 = Vintage 1976 Marshall 1960A loaded with original Celestion Blackbacks
- ESS = Matchless 1×12 cab loaded with a Matchless-branded Celestion G12H30

QUAD CORTEX – HOW DO YOU GET THE CAPTURES?
When you place your order, we will need to manually send you the captures through the ‘Cortex Cloud’ app by Neural DSP, available for both iOS and Android devices. First, you need to have the app installed and you must have an account through the app (go here to create an account and access the app).
This is how we will send you the captures:
- Please include your Cortex Cloud app username in the ‘Notes’ field when checking out. If you do not include this, we cannot send you the captures. After we receive your order, we (SignalTheory) will follow you on the app.
- Follow ‘SignalTheory’ on the Cortex Cloud app. This will make us ‘friends’ through the app :). If you are not following us, we cannot send you the captures.
- After we receive your order, and we ‘Friends’ on the app, we will send you the captures through the app. We bundle the captures into presets, so you will receive one (or more) presets that include all the captures. You will find the captures in the ‘Shared with me’ section on your Quad Cortex.
- Please allow up to 5 business days for us to send you the captures. Most orders will be fulfilled within two business days or less. This fulfillment process must happen manually – we will do our best to get you the files quickly. Once the NDSP marketplace opens, this process may change.

I already have a dozen or so of your presets from WT and ST, but this Frozen preset is fantastic. I’ve been using Helix for a few years, and these latest Stadium proxies are simply stunning. Thank you and Bless you.

Just when I started wondering if a dual proxy might be a good idea, this came out! The two amps blend and complement each other very well, and the effects mix on the patch (Stadium) gives a lot of versatility. The punch and balance of a two proxy patch is worth the price (and the processing power).

The Frostbird preset is clear, articulate, and a great reflection of the two amps. The effects selection was tasteful and overall very useful. Another great preset from the guys at Signal Theory.

Man, you guys make the best presets. This one is so good. My main go to is the signature presets but this is a fun one when I play some blues and rock music. Love it! You guys rock! I love how you guys set up the snapshots!!

I was a little hesitant on this one at first since I’m more of an “edge of breakup” kinda guy and not into tons of gain… but this preset actually sounds amazing on the lower gain settings (I mean, it sounds great on the higher gain as well if you’re into that… Lol)!!
To my surprise, this preset is fantastic for worship music!! Give it a try!

A great stereo pair but what I liked the best was the FROST snapshot – a unique tone that I can use in many songs and looking how it was made inspired me to do some self building of my own. Thanks.

H I! I HAVE QUITE A FEW PRESETS FROM WORSHIP TUTORISLS/ SIGNSL THEORY. AS ALWAYS THEY ARE EVERYTHING ADVERTISED. I PLAY MOSTLY WORSHIP AND THEY SAVE ME LOTS OF TIME AND JUST WHAT I NEED. THANX GUYS! AAAAAAA#######11

I’m using these as NAM captures in my Headrush Prime, so I can’t blend them as intended until the Prime supports multiple NAM instances in a single rig.
So basically, this was a two-for-one purchase for me where I got two great sounding amps in one purchase. Keep up the good work!

Great Preset – Love the blend – I Have many of your presets and this is certainly one of the best of the Proxy’s for Stadium XL. My go to has been for a while now the DIV37, (Distortion on my 1981 ES335 is Awesome and a sound I’ve been searching for all my music life) probably because I have spent more time detailing it to my different guitars, but this one is definitely a great change up in texture and I’m using it in my live set. Problem I’m having now is that you guys have made soooo many great one’s it’s hard to choose! Keep up the Great Work!
