Description
For these presets and captures, we’ve captured a signature F-type amp that features some really cool panning reverb and tremolo options. The result is a set of presets and captures that sound exactly like our amp, and the microphones, preamps, and EQ chains that we use to record it.
The FDR P-Verb is based on a collaboration between a well-known American amp company and a rock icon. It takes 3 of his favorite amps and combines elements of them all in one package. What we get is an incredible amp with some of the most unique features we have ever come across. This circuit, along with the 15” speaker, give you cleans that are insanely big and punchy with loads of headroom. Great for a pedal platform or just a straight-in kind of amp. It’s certainly a JACK of all trades 😉
We’ve captured and tone-matched the amp through world class microphones and preamps, and we’ve created presets that allow you to experience just how beautiful and creative this amp sounds.
TONE MATCH (Gen 2) PATCHES (Applies to Line 6 and Fractal presets)
These are part of our ‘Tone Match’ line of patches. To create these patches, we make custom IR’s that ‘match’ the HX and Fractal amp models to our real-world amp. The result is the Line 6 and Fractal units sound almost exactly like our actual amplifiers.
The ‘Gen2’ indicates a new process we’ve used when Tone Matching our amplifiers that takes more of the amplifier’s cab and speaker into account, resulting in a more accurate tone match impulse response.
PRESETS INFO
(Applies to Line 6 HX, Fractal, Quad Cortex units)
The pack includes 2 sets of presets (each with SC and HB options). The presets are labeled ‘A’ and ‘B’, and feature different approaches to signal chain and amp channels.
Tone Match IR’s (Fractal/Line 6):
- P-Verb 15: This IR is created from the 15″ Jensen speaker (used in the ‘B’ presets)
- P-Verb 10: This IR is created from the 10″ speaker (used in the ‘B’ presets)
- P-Verb Blnd: This IR is a blend of both speakers (used in the ‘A” presets)
NOTE: The HX Stomp, POD Go, and FM3 folders include ‘FX” presets. These presets include the additional effects blocks from the full Helix/Axe-FX versions. Because these units have signal flow and DSP limitations, they are not as fully featured as the flagship units.
‘A PRESETS: The ‘A’’ presets feature two amp blocks set up in a stereo pair with all the wet effects feeding into the amps. Think of it like running a large stereo pedalboard into two amplifiers set on the ‘edge of breakup’. This preset uses the ‘Blend’ IR on both amp blocks
‘B’ PRESETS: In the ‘B’ presets, we have routed effects to mimic how the amp handles tremolo and reverb on the two different speakers. You’ll have options to run reverb on the left side and trem on the right side of the stereo spectrum. These presets give you the true experience of plugging into the amplifier. The 10″ speaker IR should be on the Left side and the 15″ speaker IR should be loaded on the Right side of the preset.
NOTE: You can, as always, experiment with the speaker IR locations. If you’d like to try the 10″ or 15″ IR’s in the ‘A’ presets, go for it (they’ll sound great). You can also experiment with the Blend IR’s in the B presets.
SNAPSHOTS/SCENES
Our presets include Snapshots for instant access to a wide variety of tones, including clean sounds, ambient tones, driven, lead, and high gain sounds, and modulated tones.
NOTE: The HX Stomp presets do not include Snapshots/Scenes.
CAPTURES & PROFILES
(Applies to TONEX, Quad/Nano Cortex, Kemper)
The captures increase through the entire gain range of the amp. We’ve delivered 28 total captures, including three cabinet options as well as direct captures.
The captures are numbered, and the number corresponds to the level of gain in the tone model. Lower numbers equal lower gain, and higher numbers equal higher gain. Typically a ‘2’ or ‘3’ is the ‘edge of breakup’, and is the perfect option to use with pedals.
TONEX Captures (v2):
These captures were created using the ‘V2’ capture process, which was introduced with Tonex Ver. 1.10. This means that these captures represent the highest possible level of accuracy, and are phase aligned with all other ‘V2’ captures.
Capture Labels:
- D = Drive on (the amp features a drive circuit)
- 10 = Capture through the 10″ speaker
- 15 = Capture through the 15″ speaker
- DI = Direct capture (you’ll need to add a speaker IR or speaker emulation)
- NOTE: If the capture does not indicate 10, 15, or DI, it was made using both speakers blended
QUAD/NANO CORTEX – HOW DO YOU GET THE CAPTURES?
When you place your order, we will need to manually send you the captures through the ‘Cortex Cloud’ app by Neural DSP, available for both iOS and Android devices. First, you need to have the app installed and you must have an account through the app (go here to create an account and access the app).
This is how we will send you the captures:
- Please include your Cortex Cloud app username in the ‘Notes’ field when checking out. If you do not include this, we cannot send you the captures. After we receive your order, we (SignalTheory) will follow you on the app.
- Follow ‘SignalTheory’ on the Cortex Cloud app. This will make us ‘friends’ through the app :). If you are not following us, we cannot send you the captures.
- After we receive your order, and we ‘Friends’ on the app, we will send you the captures through the app. We bundle the captures into presets, so you will receive one (or more) presets that include all the captures. You will find the captures in the ‘Shared with me’ section on your Quad Cortex.
- Please allow up to 5 business days for us to send you the captures. Most orders will be fulfilled within two business days or less. This fulfillment process must happen manually – we will do our best to get you the files quickly. Once the NDSP marketplace opens, this process may change.
