TONE MATCH PATCHES, CAPTURES, AND PROFILES OF VINTAGE 1964 VOX AC30 TOP BOOST
For these presets, we have captured our vintage 1964 Vox AC30 Top Boost amplifier. The result is set of presets and captures that sound exactly like our amp, and the microphones, preamps, and EQ chains that we use to record it.
Our ’64 AC30 might look a bit beat up, but it sounds absolutely beautiful. This amp is simply legendary – Vox’s of this era have been and continue to be used by some of the most famous guitar players of all time, including The Beatles, The Edge (of U2), and Brian May (of Queen). Our has the original Alnico Silver speakers, and it is one of the best amps we’ve ever heard.
LINE 6 STADIUM (PROXY)
For Stadium and Stadium XL, we’ve cloned the amp using Proxy. The Stadium downloads include both presets and a full set of Proxy clones.
TONE MATCH (Gen 2) PATCHES (Applies to Line 6 and Fractal presets)
These are part of our ‘Tone Match’ line of patches. To create these patches, we make custom IR’s that ‘match’ the HX and Fractal amp models to our real-world amp. The result is the Line 6 and Fractal units sound almost exactly like our actual amplifiers.
The ‘Gen2’ indicates a new process we’ve used when Tone Matching our amplifiers that takes more of the amplifier’s cab and speaker into account, resulting in a more accurate tone match impulse response.

The pack includes fully featured presets designed for both single coil and humbucker equipped guitars.
SNAPSHOTS/SCENES
Our presets include Snapshots for instant access to a wide variety of tones, including clean sounds, ambient tones, driven, lead, and high gain sounds, and modulated tones.
NOTES:
- The HX Stomp, POD Go, and FM3 folders include ‘FX” presets. These presets include the additional effects blocks from the full Helix/Axe-FX versions. Because these units have signal flow and DSP limitations, they are not as fully featured as the flagship units.
- The HX Stomp presets do not include Snapshots.
- Headrush presets include an amp clone
CAPTURES & PROFILES
(Applies to Stadium/Proxy, TONEX, Quad Cortex, and Kemper units)
The captures increase through the entire gain range of the amp for both the Normal and Vibrato channels.
The captures are numbered, and the number corresponds to the level of gain in the tone model. Lower numbers equal lower gain, and higher numbers equal higher gain. Typically a ‘2’ or ‘3’ is the ‘edge of breakup’, and is the perfect option to use with pedals
STADIUM/PROXY, TONEX, QUAD CORTEX, NAM (A2): You get a total of 40 amp clones, including various cabs and direct clones
Clone labels:
- Br = Brilliant channel
- Nr = Normal channel
- Slvr = Original combo with the vintage Alnico Silver speakers
- Blue – made with the ’02 AC30 cab with Alnico Blue speakers
- HM = Matchless 2×12 cab with Scumback H75 + M75 speakers
- MV30 = ’94 Matchless S/C30 cab with Celestion/Matchless V30 speaker
- Dir = Direct (no cab)
TONEX and QC captures are v2. NAM captures are A2.
Kemper: You get a total of 8 captures (all v1)
These captures were made with the original 2×12 cab and Alnico Silver speakers.
QUAD/NANO CORTEX – HOW DO YOU GET THE CAPTURES?
When you place your order, we will need to manually send you the captures through the ‘Cortex Cloud’ app by Neural DSP, available for both iOS and Android devices. First, you need to have the app installed and you must have an account through the app (go here to create an account and access the app).
This is how we will send you the captures:
- Please include your Cortex Cloud app username in the ‘Notes’ field when checking out. If you do not include this, we cannot send you the captures. After we receive your order, we (SignalTheory) will follow you on the app.
- Follow ‘SignalTheory’ on the Cortex Cloud app. This will make us ‘friends’ through the app :). If you are not following us, we cannot send you the captures.
- After we receive your order, and we ‘Friends’ on the app, we will send you the captures through the app. We bundle the captures into presets, so you will receive one (or more) presets that include all the captures. You will find the captures in the ‘Shared with me’ section on your Quad Cortex.
- Please allow up to 5 business days for us to send you the captures. Most orders will be fulfilled within two business days or less. This fulfillment process must happen manually – we will do our best to get you the files quickly. Once the NDSP marketplace opens, this process may change.

Killer AC30! Has everything you look for in that amp. Fantastic cleans with all that chime! Excellent dirt with that top end to it. These guys did a great job capturing it. I have several of their captures and like those, this one sounds killer! Can’t wait to try it on stage!

This 1964 AC30 TB package (Proxy) is fantastic! Hands-down the best sounding AC30 tones I have yet to experience on my Helix Stadium XL. Finally found my tone after a year and a half of searching!
I bought my Neural Quad Cortex about 18 months ago, but to be completely honest, I spent a long time chasing a tone I actually loved. My sound kept coming across as harsh, glassy, and skinny—whether I was using the native QC models or buying presets from various other creators. Nothing seemed to click.
That changed when I saw a discussion on the Neural forum mentioning Worship Tutorials / Signal Theory and decided to give their ’64 AC30 preset and captures a shot.
WOW. The moment I loaded it up, my guitar tone came alive. It was immediately thick, balanced, and rich, with a super clean, well-defined low end. The difference was night and day. Right away, people at my church noticed—even my music director commented on how great it sounded!
It handles all my main guitars effortlessly. Whether I’m plugging in a Fender Stratocaster with single coils or a Gibson ES-335 with humbuckers, the tone just shines without needing constant tweaking.
To make things even better, the preset includes captures of the King of Tone (Yellow and Red channels as clean boost/overdrive), which are hands down the best overdrive pedal captures I have ever heard in my life. Plus, Signal Theory recently released the V2 update with V2 captures, and somehow it made an already incredible preset even better—it cuts through the mix perfectly.
This has officially become my main go-to preset forever. If you’ve been struggling to dial in a full, balanced Vox-style tone on the Quad Cortex, do yourself a favor and pick this up.

I’m still using the OG Capture that Brian & bradford put out a while back, of their AC30 because that still sounds so good. But these flavors are great. Tones are great. Presets are great. Have fun, no need to tweak. It’s been done for you. Now we play… (Sigh of relief) 🙂

First of all, Signal theory captures are all I use on the tonex…. and I’ve tried alot. They seem toget more of the feel and magic in the capture more than any other, and it doesn’t stop with this Vox. It is top notch, 5 stars!!
